AHA’s are commonly used in skin care ranges and chemical peels. Primarily AHA’s are used to gently exfoliate dead skin cells from the skins surface, enhancing its texture. Minimal collagen production is also gained. AHAs include glycolic acid, lactic acid, and malic acid, which are derived from sugar cane, milk, and pears respectively.

Also known as Nd:YAG, the laser is used for the removal of vascular lesions such as ‘spider veins’ to the face, vascular birthmarks, back ground flushing, pigmentation removal and hair removal in dark skin. The laser has two wavelengths 532nm and 1064nm for greater efficacy.

Glycolic acid (or hydroxyacetic acid) is the smallest α-hydroxy acid (AHA). It is used in various skin-care products. Glycolic acid is found in some sugar-crops.
