We have some very effective new technologies used to remove fat in our Melbourne clinic, from state-of-the-art fat freezing devices, to injections, to liposuction. You might have a lot of fat to reshape or just a little fat requiring some contouring. No matter what area of the body you want to reshape, our fat removal treatments are effective.
What does ‘fat removal’ really mean?
Removing fat is pretty straightforward as a concept, but not all treatments immediately remove fat from your body. Liposuction is the only fat removal method that directly removes the fat; the others damage fat cells so that they are scavenged by the body and removed over the coming weeks, just like any damaged cell would be. This is called phagocytosis, and is the natural process your body undergoes constantly as you renew your cells: out with the old, in with the new.
Liposuction for fat removal – pros and cons
Liposuction is an effective fat removal strategy for larger amounts of fat, instant fat removal, and delicate contouring, since it is very precise. Liposuction isn’t going to be useful for anyone wanting a weight-loss solution by itself, or those who aren’t able to undergo surgery due to other health complications.
At ENRICH’s Melbourne clinic, expert liposuction practitioner Dr Michael Rich is responsible for all liposuction treatments. Dr Rich has been performing liposuction for over 30 years, and is considered a pioneer in his field. This means you are in the very best of hands for any fat removal procedures.
Liposuction with such an experienced practitioner is fast and effective, with great results. No matter if you are after large-volume liposuction of the abdomen, a breast reduction, or a small double chin removal treatment to recontour your profile, the results are amongst the best in the world. There are many options with liposuction, so talk to Dr Rich.
Fat freezing for fat removal – pros and cons
Fat freezing is a nonsurgical, non-invasive fat removal treatment where fat is cooled to a specific temperature, at which point the cell dies – called apoptosis. Fat cells die much more quickly than other skin cells, and so we can remove fat without damaging other tissue. Fat freezing is a bit slower and less precise than liposuction.
Fat freezing takes more treatments for the effect to become apparent, since the handpieces can only get so far into the skin to get to the fat cells. Once the fat cells have been damaged, they are scavenged by the body via your natural process, and after many weeks and multiple treatments, results will start to be seen.
Lipodissolve for fat removal – pros and cons
Lipodissolve is a special injection that can be used to remove small pockets of fat using a collection of fat-dissolving ingredients. These injections cause the fat cells to burst, resulting in the same phagocytosis clean-up process as fat freezing, which takes a few weeks. These injections are only really useful for small pockets of fat, as results can be patchy if trying to use it for bigger areas. We recommend liposuction for larger areas of fat removal.
ThermiTight radiofrequency for fat removal – pros and cons
Radiofrequency can be taken inside the body via a special probe, with skin tightening at the same time as fat removal. This again is only useful for small areas of fat, and is part of our skin tightening in certain patients. A good example of where the ThermiTight device is useful is the belly area after pregnancy, where the skin is a bit loose and there may be stubborn fat. We love our new ThermiRF machine, as it’s so versatile.
