A ‘tummy tuck’ is not a medical term, but refers to any procedure that is designed to pull the belly in and maybe to correct sagging skin. It most often refers to a surgical abdominoplasty, but a tummy tuck may include liposuction and skin tightening treatments as well as or instead of surgery.
A tummy tuck generally refers to the tightening and ‘tucking in’ of the belly, most often in women (but not always), and is a term that while not medically defined, is commonly associated with abdominoplasty. Abdominoplasty comes in two broad types: the tummy tuck and the mini tummy tuck. We do not perform surgical abdominoplasties at ENRICH Clinic in Melbourne, instead preferring the less invasive branch of body contouring that includes skin tightening and fat removal via liposuction or other, even less invasive (but effective) procedures like fat freezing. You do have options when it comes to tummy tucks.
At ENRICH Clinic, we have an interest in skin tightening and fat reduction, with our own minor version of the tummy tuck using liposuction and skin tightening procedures. It is important to note that not everyone will get the results they are after with the less invasive treatments, but they certainly bear consideration – abdominoplasty is a very invasive surgery that produces excellent results, but is not suitable physically or affordable for everyone. If you can’t afford the downtime, less invasive options become much more attractive.
Body contouring using liposuction and skin tightening can be a useful way to avoid going under the knife. Tummy tucks using liposuction can get rid of unwanted fat, while effective skin tightening treatments can delve just under the skin to stimulate collage and elastin, and firm sagging skin up.
The combination method of skin tightening and liposuction (and/or other treatments as per your needs) means your belly skin is tightened up using the natural retraction that occurs after fat removal, but also the skin is treated with wave-based procedures that stimulate your skin cells to regenerate, triggering the production of collagen and elastin. This creates a lasting, naturally tighter look and feel.
Fat removal and skin tightening using the ThermiTight – Melbourne clinic
One of our new favourite toys here at our Melbourne clinic is the ThermiRF device with its multiple handpieces. The ThermiTight is the only handpiece that goes underneath the skin to not only melt fat away, but stimulate the tissue on the underside of the abdomen to create a deeper tightening action than devices that work from the top (though we can do both). After just one treatment, small pockets of fat can be removed and the skin will be tauter across the belly area with the area improving in appearance over the coming weeks after treatment.
Fat removal using liposuction
Dr Michael Rich is a Melbourne-based liposuction body contouring expert, and can help you get the body you want through sculpting of what you already have. Most people don’t need a lot of fat removed, but if required we can remove up to six kilograms from various parts of your body to mould you into the shape you want. Liposuction is safe, effective, and Dr Rich’s technique gets smooth results every time.
Skin tightening devices
We use a number of devices to tighten skin on different parts of your body. These are all wave-based devices, each with their own purpose and methods, from ultrasound to radiofrequency.
Each of you has your own needs, so arrange a consultation with one of our friendly staff members so we can provide you with a non-invasive tummy tuck alternative.
