There are several dermal fillers available on the market, but the type your cosmetic dermatologist prefers may be a narrower band, especially for lip injections. Not all dermal fillers are created equal, and more modern dermal fillers are much better than ever, lasting longer with better results.
Lip injections are often typically-used dermal fillers, but you don’t want all types of dermal filler in the lips.
It’s nearly impossible for a layperson to differentiate between the different filler brands, so it’s important that you discuss your needs with your cosmetic dermatologist, so you understand what is being injected into your body. You can ask why they chose a certain type of filler for your lip injections, and what that means for your skin, how long it will last, and what to expect.
Where we put dermal fillers
Your face is a 3D structure with many layers to it. You have your supports (bones), your muscles, soft tissue (like fat), and the skin over the top. Each dermal filler has a different chemical makeup and suits different areas of the face better than others, with injections made in the different layers for different effects. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all dermal filler.
Types of dermal fillers
There are three subdivisions of dermal fillers, with several brands producing fillers in each subdivision, with further categories within brands based on concentrations and mixtures.
Dermal fillers used in lip injections
We have some dermal fillers that are highly compatible with human tissue with little to no allergy or reactivity component to them. These dermal fillers can be injected almost anywhere, including lip injections. This type of safe dermal filler is our preferred type to use at ENRICH Clinic in Melbourne, because of the safety and effectiveness profile. These dermal fillers can be used safely and quickly for lip injections, are good for first-timers, and can add volume, shape, and improve skin quality over time.
We can inject these dermal fillers into nasolabial folds, wrinkles, fine lines, cheeks, lips, eyelids, brows, forehead lines, and can even do nonsurgical nose jobs. These types of fillers are reversible by injecting an enzyme into the treated area, which will instantly dissolve the treatment. This means any mishaps or changes of heart can be quickly remedied.
Augmenting bone structure or deep wrinkles with dermal filler
Other dermal fillers have great capacity to lift tissue when injected deeper, on top of the bones, both acting like bone, but also stimulating collagen production. This helps repair skin from underneath, for long-lasting results. These types of mineral filler are not used in lips, but do provide natural-looking results, don’t move around in the skin, and are often used in dentistry and reconstructive surgery.
There is only one dermal filler we use at ENRICH Clinic in Melbourne for lip injections, and it is considered extremely safe and very effective. Lip injections are progressing constantly in terms of ingredients and molecular structure, which means they are starting to last longer and work to improve the skin far more than ever before.
