Liposuction of the chin area is a relatively small procedure in our clinic, with a quick recovery period and little to no downtime. Fat removal via liposuction is a long-lasting treatment – the fat cells are completely removed from the area, and don’t grow back. Chin liposuction lasts.
A double chin can make you look older than you are, but with chin liposuction, you can regain a more youthful jawline and profile. Chin liposuction can create a very subtle change – nobody will know you had it (unless you tell them), but you’ll get more compliments on how you’re looking.
Chin liposuction is designed to remove just the right amount of fat from your neck so it remains natural-looking.
Results of chin liposuction – how long does chin liposuction last?
Chin liposuction is a quick, straightforward method of removing a double chin and recontouring the neckline and will last forever, technically speaking. Your profile can be enhanced with the careful removal of the fat pocket that can develop under the chin, where the neck and jawline meet. Skin naturally retracts around its contents, so you won’t end up with loose skin after your chin liposuction treatment.
If you gain weight later, it’s possible to gain weight around the chin area, but because the fat pocket is so small and we remove most of these fat cells, a new double chin developing is unlikely.
Why do I have a double chin and can chin liposuction really last?
A double chin can be genetic or appear as we age. Most double chins will not go away with diet and exercise, unless a person is overweight. There are only a few available options for removing a double chin, with the main one being liposuction.
It’s unclear why fat accumulates under the chin in this way, with the most common cause of a double chin carrying extra weight. But, the chin area can be the last place that fat goes away from if you do lose weight. Losing weight is not on everyone’s agenda, so a healthy weight for you is all that’s required for chin liposuction results that last.
The best candidates for chin liposuction are those with a healthy diet and a stable body weight. You should also be able to heal properly, as the healing process is important after any type of surgery.
Is chin liposuction a difficult procedure?
An experienced liposuction expert like Dr Michael Rich performs chin liposuction regularly, and is very familiar with the delicate area under the chin and on the neck. This procedure can be tricky for less experienced practitioners, however you are in the best hands with Dr Rich at ENRICH clinic.
To perform chin liposuction, first Dr Rich will inject some local anaesthetic into the area to completely numb it. This anaesthetic also acts to stop bleeding, so bruising after the procedure is minimised. Local anaesthetic means you can get on with your day after your procedure, as opposed to a general anaesthetic, which requires extra care and a trained anaesthetist.
A small incision is made directly under the chin. A very tiny tube is inserted which is used to gently suction the fat out in a specific pattern. This pattern keeps muscle and other tissue intact, while removing just the desired amount of fat.
How much does chin liposuction cost and do I need multiple treatments for chin liposuction that lasts?
Each person has different requirements so it isn’t possible to provide an estimate of costs until you have had a consultation with Dr Rich. The small treatment area and the short timeframe required for chin liposuction means it costs much less than other areas of the body, such as the abdomen or thighs. You will only need one treatment.
How long does chin liposuction last?
Chin liposuction is a short procedure, so clinic time includes your consultation and then the procedure at another appointment. Once you’ve healed, there is nothing more to do to keep your new neckline as it is. As we age, neck and facial skin naturally starts to droop, but the fat pocket will never return. Chin liposuction results last.

How long do chin liposuction side-effects last?
It is normal to feel some discomfort after this procedure, and see some bruising and swelling of the area for a couple of weeks after your procedure. Some patients may experience temporary numbness. Pain is not usually experienced, but painkillers can be taken which will alleviate any pain. Because we all have different responses to treatments, if necessary Dr Rich can prescribe stronger pain relief.
There is no visible scarring after chin liposuction, since the incision is very small and heals and fades over time. A small scar will remain, but you’d have to look hard to find it.
