HIFU Treatments in Melbourne

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment using the power of deep ultrasonic waves to stimulate collagen and elastin. HIFU-treated skin starts to produce more collagen, offering tightening.

HIFU helps to lift tissue without downtime or side effects. We use ultrasound on mild sagging and mild loose skin, with no prerequisites for treatment.Hifu Treatment Equipment - Ultraformer III

At ENRICH Clinic, our preferred HIFU treatment device is the Ultraformer III. The Ultraformer can be more effective than other HIFU  machines initially and, in the long run, more cost-effective for the patient. The Ultrafomer can also be applied across many more body areas than its predecessor.

How Does HIFU Work?

Melbourne HIFU Treatment in session

Unlike traditional methods, HIFU bypasses the skin’s surface to deliver ultrasonic waves. Here’s a simple breakdown of how it works:

  • Targeting deep tissue: HIFU uses high-frequency ultrasound waves that bypass the surface of the skin, reaching deeper layers where it can make a real difference.
  • Precise calibration: The device is carefully calibrated to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at a specific temperature and depth.
  • Heat activation: These ultrasonic waves generate heat which stimulates fibroblasts to ramp up collagen production.

By focusing on deeper tissue layers, HIFU promotes long-term collagen growth, making it a popular choice for non-surgical skin tightening and anti-aging treatments.

Do HIFU Treatments Hurt?

Ultrasonic treatments can be a little uncomfortable, like a prickling feeling. This sensation will pass , and it means the treatment is working. You will feel a warm sensation, more intense around bony areas and the eyes.

Comfort will rely on the settings and the desired outcome, with more intense treatments increasing the discomfort during the ultrasonic pulses. Settings are designed to suit your skin type and the area being treated. Thicker skin tends to see the least discomfort.

How long does it take for results?

You may see an initial immediate tightening effect, but the best is yet to come. Collagen production is a natural process that takes several months after stimulation, with the initial tightening due to the heat slightly shrinking the collagen already there.

The new collagen produced will start to tighten and lift a little more each day. However, individual results will vary due to the ability to produce collagen (usually related to age), skin condition, and any lifestyle factors contributing to or detracting from strength and elasticity.

What To Expect From A Session

A typical HIFU session usually lasts between 30-90 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. Before the treatment, you’ll have a consultation to discuss your skin goals and assess your suitability for HIFU.

During the treatment, the area will be cleaned, and a gel will be applied to help the ultrasound device glide smoothly over your skin. You might feel a slight tingling or warmth as the ultrasound waves penetrate your skin.

Unlike other procedures, there’s no downtime for HIFU treatments. After the session, you might experience mild redness or swelling, but these effects usually subside quickly.

Why We Love HIFU

With HIFU, you can see a tightening result that keeps improving over time. You get a light lift, but the results will appear over the coming two or three months as collagen production increases.

HIFU is non-invasive, and there are no injections.

We use your body’s natural tightening abilities to tighten skin with nothing artificial injected in your body. Results can last 18 months to two years, depending on the skin before treatments and other factors, which will be discussed with you prior to your treatment.

HIFU is considered a  tightening strategy that is beneficial in its no downtime, non-surgical aspect.  The device protects your skin from damage while penetrating deep into the layers to stimulate your natural healing response and collagen production.

HIFU Treatments FAQ

How many treatments you need will depend mainly on how your tissue looks and feels when you come to your consultation initially. More sagging means more treatments to get the desired effect. As we age, we naturally produce less collagen, which may mean more stimulation by the device is required for more significant tightening.

You may only need between one and four treatments; over time, you will need maintenance procedures to keep the effect as we age and collagen production returns to normal.

We may suggest you need a more intense type of combination treatment for your particular skin issue. It is important to manage your expectations.

Everyone will be different regarding areas treated, so costs will naturally vary.

Book a consultation with our cosmetic consultant or one of our nurses to discuss the best approach for your skin health. We can tailor a treatment plan to suit your needs and budget.

HIFU at our Melbourne clinic is a clinic procedure with no downtime.

You will likely experience some redness immediately after procedures, which will dissipate in a few hours. Other temporary side effects may include some slight swelling or tenderness.

HIFU is not a replacement for a facelift, but it is an alternative for anyone who wants a more subtle facial tightening. A facelift is a surgery, while ultrasound is a non-invasive clinic-based treatment.

HIFU can also be a part of your regular anti-aging routine.

Our Melbourne HIFU treatments can go deeper than radiofrequency to the more structural elements of your skin and tissue. While other energy-based treatments are beneficial, the deep tightening and rejuvenation effect of HIFU is outstanding.
