There are a few things you can have done cosmetically to your nose: surgery to reshape it, filler to remodel it, and skin modifiers such as pore-reducing procedures to smooth, tighten or refine skin.
Getting your nasal area reshaped surgically is known as a rhinoplasty, but most people just call it a ‘nose job’. We do not perform surgical rhinoplasty procedures at ENRICH Clinic, because we prefer non-surgical techniques.
Having more balanced facial features
Facial fashions evolve over time, just like everything else. The most important thing is that you look natural and any modifications suit you. Your facial features come as a package deal, and a good surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist keeps this in mind when planning nose procedures. Enhancing natural beauty is what we do best at our Melbourne clinic.
How we perform the procedure
A non-surgical nose job involves the use of dermal fillers as a reshaping tool. Dermal filler is injected in several areas of the nose in a reasonably quick clinic visit – one treatment can last up to two years, and takes just half an hour to do. Nose fillers can be used to increase the height of a flat bridge, straighten, fill in any hollows or hooks, create a sense of balance, create symmetry, refine shape after surgery, or to make minor improvements.
A non-surgical rhinplasty is temporary, while a surgical rhinoplasty is permanent. These are significantly different procedures, and there will be times when one is more appropriate than the other.
Non surgical rhinoplasty – recovery and results
There isn’t much to a non surgical rhinoplasty – recovery is swift, with some slight swelling that dissipates quickly. Results are instant but temporary. The beauty of this procedure is that no invasive surgery is required, reducing healing time by large margins. The surgical and non surgical nose procedures are comparable only in their results.
Benefits of a non-surgical rhinoplasty with filler
Less severe or minor nose irregularities can be adjusted with a non surgical rhinoplasty, which means nose fillers. Recovery is short, the results are temporary, there is no damage or change to nasal passages, and the procedure is quick and precise. A surgical rhinoplasty, on the other hand, is a long-lasting procedure (so no repeat visits), recovery takes months, and more severe or major irregularities can be corrected.

We can create a sense of balance with facial features by smoothing out nose irregularities – this might be bumps, lumps, dips or scars that cause a sense of asymmetry. Corrections of irregularities can result in the nose actually looking smaller, despite no change in size. It’s all a matter of what the eye perceives, and what our most obvious features are.
Costs of filler
The price of non-surgical rhinoplasty varies, sometimes a lot, depending on which areas of the nose area are being corrected. A great surgeon who knows faces intimately is preferable, since the dermal filler injections do last for up to two years – you don’t want to have to put up with a mistake for that long.

Costs will vary depending on the experience and expertise of your surgeon, and each case will be determined on an individual basis. Dermal filler injections are typically sold by the millilitre, so each millilitre will have a set cost, plus the cosmetic dermatologist whose expertise you are paying for. You should discuss this with the clinic when you call to make an appointment, but expect to pay in the high hundreds into the thousands for a beautiful, long-lasting non surgical rhinoplasty.
How can you change the shape of my nose?
Typically we are not looking to give you a ‘perfect’ nose, but one that suits your face shape and complements your features. Each face is unique in its details and ratios, so your surgeon will assess your face as a whole to determine what the best pathway to balance is.
Expectations matter, so if you are after an improvement in your appearance, we can help. Perfection isn’t our goal, since a face is never perfect – there is aesthetic magic in the imperfect; it’s figuring out how to best capitalise on these imperfections, which is where your surgeon is your artist.
Other procedures that may be combined with a non-surgical rhinoplasty
Because a non-surgical nose augmentation is a short treatment, you may have a collection of procedures happening on the same day, which will not be true for a surgical procedure – that’s a once-in-a-day operation.
Complements to your nose filler could include anti-wrinkle injections on other parts of your face, liposuction of the chin or neck area, or skin-tightening anti-wrinkle procedures.
Is there a ‘best’ age for non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Young people’s features haven’t finished developing, so anyone under the age of 20 will need a special sort of assessment – that is, psychological reasons for wanting the non-surgical rhinoplasty, along with an examination of physical maturation.
Once we hit 40, our skin starts to change and other considerations need to be assessed, such as skin elasticity and oiliness. Anyone between the ages of 20 and 40 is a good candidate for non-surgical rhinoplasty.
What we can achieve
- Bridge corrections – lumps, bumps, dips
- Correcting a crooked nose
- Lengthening the nose
- Balancing facial features
- Adjusting the relationship between the upper lip and the nose
- Tip angle
Taking ethnicity into account
At ENRICH Clinic, we take your ethnic background into account when determining the augmentation of facial features, especially the nose. Each of us has an ethnic background that genetically determines what our nose looks like, and how it fits into the greater picture of our faces.
Our facial features are those that our forbearers had and that we are stuck with. Enhancing the balance of those features is our goal. We will always make sure that after a non-surgical rhinoplasty, your nose still truly belongs to you.
Getting what you want
You need to be clear what you want out of your nose procedure so you can explain this to your practitioner at your consultation. More than one visit may be required before the nose augmentation with filler is performed, with scans and other tests required to get a full overview of the nasal structures.
You can bring pictures of noses you love, and your doctor will go through them with you, explaining the way you individual facial features are built and what can be done to enhance your nose or other facial features.
The process prior to the actual nose procedure is one that must be gone through so you get the results you are after with solid planning.
NOSE FILLER FAQ
We apply nose filler with a series of strategically placed injections of a special dermal filler. We use a topical anaesthetic to dull the injections, which cause a slight sting. Our priority is your comfort, so we work with you to ensure you are always comfortable. There is no need to be afraid of a painful procedure or recovery, but you can expect a little redness and swelling post-procedure due to the inflammation caused by introducing a substance by injection into the skin.
Results are visible immediately; however, the filler does need to settle and the slight swelling and redness to subside. The swelling will reduce and the filler settle over 1-2 weeks when your lovely new nose is revealed.
Nobody ever has to know unless you tell them. While under close examination, such as in a before and after photo, it may be clear. Luckily, nobody is doing that (unless you’re in the glossies!), and changes are usually very subtle.
As humans, we look at a person’s face as a whole, without examining each feature alone. Nobody will be able to tell that you’ve had nose fillers.
Because we look at facial features as a whole, making a prominent nose appear less prominent is not as contradictory as it might appear at first glance. By creating symmetry and modifying the angles of the nose, we can make it appear smaller in some cases, even though we are adding volume.
The strategically placed injections work to balance out facial features, lumps, bumps and ridges.
It’s important to realise that fillers by their nature add volume. It’s the strategy part of the treatment that tricks the eye. Your nose will be larger after treatment but may look smaller, symmetrical and straighter.
Each of you will have a different nose, thus how many millilitres of filler liquid are required to get the desired result will vary, sometimes considerably. You’ll need to speak directly with your cosmetic doctor in your appointment to get an accurate quote. We dispense the products by the millilitre, and each dose has a set cost.
Cost depends on how much product we use to get the desired effect, so the cost is per millilitre of liquid plus the expertise of your practitioner. You can expect to pay in the hundreds or low thousands for a non-surgical nose job. Come in for a consultation to get an accurate quote.
The only side-effect you can expect – so long as nothing unexpected occurs – is some redness and slight swelling. These effects dissipate across 1-2 weeks. If something unexpected occurs, we need to know so we can ensure the safety of the treatment, so call the clinic to talk it over.
We have highly experienced cosmetic doctors doing nose filler injections, so you can rest assured you are in the very best hands. We know facial anatomy intimately.
There are risks with all medical and cosmetic procedures, especially with injections. There are risks to doing filler injections facially, particularly if the filler substance gets into the bloodstream accidentally.
Wrongful placement of injections is usually more of a problem with untrained, inexperienced practitioners. At ENRICH Clinic, only doctors do injections. We have the best cosmetic doctors in Australia and they love their art form and know facial anatomy inside-out. We pride ourselves on our work and expect only the best outcomes.
A rare risk is a compromised blood supply when the filler gets into arteries that supply the nose or eyes. If filler gets into an artery, it can cause a blockage, which results in the affected tissue lacking needed blood supply. While rare, this can lead to tissue death. Local blood supply integrity is of great importance, so having a well-trained practitioner is key. This undesirable situation can affect the nose and eyes, depending on which artery is affected.
In Australia, there has been just one case of blindness from filler and 100 cases globally from filler generally (not only nose filler). Previous nasal surgery can increase risks. To reduce these risks, we use blunt cannulas, not needles, and we are conservative and extremely careful.
Unexpected adverse reactions to the filler we use are rare, but it’s not impossible to have a bad reaction to an injection that doesn’t include such dire circumstances. We monitor you after treatments and are available 24 hours a day if something seems to be going badly. We are all unique and can react in unexpected ways.
Because the nose is a low-movement area, dermal filler treatments last up to two years. It lasts so long because the nose hardly moves at all, which results in the filler staying put for a long time before it absorbs into the body. The lips, on the other hand, are a high-movement area, so lip filler lasts months, not years.
If you want to keep your new nose, you will need to have the treatment repeated every 18 months to two years. The filler is a temporary augmentation, which is just how we like it. Temporary means you can update your look, and go back to your regular nose naturally over time if that’s what you want.
One of the beauties of our fillers is you can update your nose with tweaks later. We can tweak your nose after treatments by using an enzyme injection to dissolve filler, or we can add more. You’re the boss! We work with you to get your nose looking just the way you want it.
You will see results immediately, but as the injection sites settle, you’ll see the final look over the course of about ten days. You can expect some swelling after treatments, but this will dissipate naturally as your body accepts the filler, deeming it to fit in with your body (as opposed to being a foreign substance).
The substance we inject is the same as molecules already in your body, so you are not introducing a foreign body that your system has to accept or reject. It’s uncomplicated in its make-up and has proved to be an exciting development in fillers. We love our dermal fillers since they are low-risk (in our expert hands) and extremely effective at making cosmetic modifications.
You’re in luck! If for some reason you aren’t happy with your new nose, we can quickly and easily inject a dissolving substance into the treated area that makes it all go away. We can also modify the filler that already exists with tweaks, adding and subtracting as needed. The enzyme application is straightforward.
You don’t have to do anything special after filler injections except avoid massaging the area. Massaging will dislodge the filler and may cause irregularities, especially at first. Once the product settles into your nose, you can behave normally and touch your face, blow your nose, and make faces to your heart’s content. We will instruct you on how to care for your new nose at your appointment.
Nose fillers can work small miracles, but they do not replace a surgical rhinoplasty. The filler can only do so much. The best candidates for nose fillers are those who are dissatisfied with the shape or angle of the nose or nose tip.
We can’t adjust functional nasal issues using filler. If you need surgery to correct nasal abnormalities, you should talk to us about this so we can recommend a course of action. We do not do surgical rhinoplasties at our clinic, but we can recommend the best surgeons so you can make another appointment. We won’t kid you about what can and can’t be done – we’re realists, and we won’t promise you anything we can’t deliver.
Those with a small, bumpy or crooked nose get the most benefit out of nose fillers. We can straighten a curved nose and reshape the tip easily.
Once you’ve had an assessment and a surgical rhinoplasty recommended, you can in some cases use nose filler as a practice run to see how it will look. A surgical rhinoplasty will permanently correct your nose shape, and where necessary, correct any breathing or anatomical issues.
We don’t recommend the use of fillers more than two or three times where a surgical rhinoplasty is on the cards since excess filler can make surgery more difficult.
Choose your cosmetic practitioner carefully
You want a cosmetic doctor who is experienced and qualified to perform your nose procedure. At ENRICH, we have specialist surgeons who will work with you to get what you want out of your face.
Does the procedure leave scars?
A non-surgical rhinoplasty leaves no scars or possibly scarring inside the nostril where it is invisible. The exact details of your procedure will be discussed with you prior to your procedure, with more complex cases possibly resulting in scarring either inside or outside of the nostrils. The idea is to leave no trace.
Nasal and facial tissue heals quickly and cleanly, revealing your ‘new’ nose generally immediately.
Recovery and results
The days after a your nose procedure are typically the days with the most side-effects, where you may feel puffy.
