Dermal Fillers Melbourne

Whether we like it or not, ageing is a fact of life. Although we cannot stop it, with a better understanding of its process, we can intervene and slow down the visible signs.

Most of us recognise the visible effects of ageing via the following:

  • Wrinkles and lines
  • Deep skin folds and hollows
  • Sagging skin
  • Drooping face with downward smile
  • Eye bags, puffy lower cheeks
  • Thinning of face
  • Shortening of chin
  • Brown blotches and redness

As we age, our face undergoes many changes including:

  • Loss of bone, narrowing the face and shortening the chin
  • Loss of fat causes deep skin folds and hollows, movement of fat leads to baggy skin around the eyes, prominent jowls and puffy lower cheeks
  • The muscles that pull the face up weaken, and those that pull the face down dominate, resulting in a downturned and droopy face
  • The skin’s supportive network breaks down with loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid
  • Blood vessels and pigmentation become more prominent

In order to ensure that results of treatments are natural, it is necessary to deal with factors involved in the ageing process, not just stop certain movements from occurring.

At ENRICH, we use dermal fillers, lip enhancement fillers and injections to replace volume from bone and fat, and to strengthen and improve the skin.

ENRICH only uses products made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar that is naturally found in the skin. These fillers are non-permanent, since they are broken down by the body over time. Ultimately, this means they are safer, and can be adjusted as time goes by (and your aesthetic needs change).

Age-related volume loss in the face results in areas of hollowing, flatness, unwanted lines and sagging or crepey skin. Dermal fillers are injectable products that allow us to correct the appearance of these problems.

By restoring volume and improving skin texture, a more youthful appearance is restored. Dermal fillers also enable enhancement and reshaping of the features that define our face. At ENRICH, we are dedicated to creating a natural look that is the best version of you.

Lines that are softened with Dermal Fillers include:

  • Nasolabial folds (between the nose and outer mouth)
  • Marionette lines (between the outer mouth and chin)
  • Vertical lip lines(above the upper lip)
  • Lines around the eyes (‘crow’s feet’)
  • Frown lines (between our brow)

The areas that require extra volume and definition typically include:

  • Cheeks
  • Hollows under the eyes (or ‘tear troughs’)
  • Temples
  • Jowls or jawline
  • Chin

In addition, dermal fillers can be used to correct scarring and pitting of the skin due to acne or trauma, and can even provide a rejuvenation process for ageing face, neck, or hands.

The fillers are administered using a very fine needle or cannula.

To reduce discomfort, depending on the area being treated, local anaesthetic cream may be applied before the appointment or the doctor may use a local anaesthetic injection to numb the area prior.

Often ice is all that is needed to increase comfort during the procedure.

Treatment time typically takes anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

Results are immediate but best at two weeks, once the treated area has settled down.

Dermal and lip enhancement filler results usually last for at least 6 months and sometimes up to 18 months, depending on the thickness of the product used, the site of the injection, and the individual. However, it is necessary to have a ‘top up’ treatment intermittently to maintain the benefits.

Some swelling in the first 48 hours or bruising for between one and two weeks is possible, so it is important to time dermal filler treatment away from important social commitments. Infection is a rare complication, and careful measures are taken to minimise this risk.

After the procedure, to reduce swelling, it is helpful to ice the area, sleep in an upright position, and avoid exercise and alcohol consumption for 24 hours. We can also offer you a recovery cream and laser treatment to further minimise bruising.

Unlike other clinics in Australia, at ENRICH in Melbourne, only certified doctors provide lip enhancement with injectable fillers and have the skills and knowledge to assist you should any complications arise.

Before the procedure it is important to avoid anything that may thin the blood for one week prior.

This includes:

  • Aspirin
  • Anti-inflammatories (such as Nurofen, Brufen, Naprogesic, Ponstan and Voltaren)
  • Fish oil
  • Chinese herbs

Because ageing is multifaceted, it is important to approach lip and facial rejuvenation and enhancement by considering more than just lost tissue volume and wrinkles. Skin boosters contain a series of superficial injections of a special form of hyaluronic acid which stimulates collagen production to create healthy, glowing skin without volumising, or looking ‘pillow-faced.’

How many treatments are required?

Maximum benefit is obtained when skin boosting treatment is performed monthly for three months. Thereafter, treatment is every six to nine months to maintain the results of the initial three procedures

The following areas are suitable for skin boosters:
