Our Body Contouring program is designed to give options to our patients, depending on their needs, expectations, budget and the area(s) required for contouring. Sometimes a combination of treatments can work or a single treatment may just be what you need to remove fat from that stubborn area. We individualise all our Body Contouring Programs and ensure our patient’s experience is key to the program.
Our program can help to reduce stubborn fat deposits and reshaping using liposuction. Strategic fat removal is an effective way to alter and improve contours.
Liposuction is the most effective fat removal procedure. Tumescent liposuction is the gold standard and Dr Micheal Rich has been performing this procedure for over 30 years.
Downtime for liposuction ranges from one to two weeks, but only one treatment is required. Learn more about liposuction here.
We can recontour:
This element of the program is for those of you with stubborn fat deposits in a specific area of your body. TruScuplt is a relatively gentle treatment but the results of this non-invasive procedure have pleased many a patient.
Truscuplt ID has some very key benefits:
The device uses innovative monopolar radiofrequency (RF) technology to target fat selectively and therapeutically heat it until fat cells are slowly removed and excreted through the body naturally. Results can take up to 12 weeks to show.
Penetrating deep to treat the entire fat layer from skin to muscle, result iD is clinically proven for permanent fat cell destruction.
Learn more about Truscuplt ID here.
We use the VenusFreeze (not fat freezing!) device to help to reduce localised fat deposits while also gently tightening skin for a more youthful-looking body. The VenusFreeze is a wave-based technology that has the ability to damage fat cells so they are reabsorbed by the body, making them disappear. results are subtle treatment to treatment and serval treatments are usually required. This is a comfortable non-invasive procedure that has been a constant at ENRICH for a few years.
As part of our Liposuction post-procedure treatment, we give 2 complimentary Venus treatments to assist further with tightening.
Learn more about the VenusFreeze here.
We also have an effective cellulite treatment program, CelluFix, if cellulite is your main concern.
Radiofrequency treatments are very effective for body contouring, fat reduction or reshaping, and cellulite reduction when used correctly.
While there is still no long-lasting ‘cure’ for cellulite (it is natural, after all), we now have more useful – and longer-lasting relatively speaking – cellulite treatments.
Find more details on the CelluFix Program here.
Having body contouring procedures after weight loss can really boost the effects of losing all that weight. Carrying a lot of weight for a long period of time can stretch the skin beyond bouncing back, and leave you lumpy, bumpy and sagging. Having a few key procedures to reshape skin and fat can make a profound difference to how you fit into clothes and see yourself after your great feat.
Weight loss can come in two forms; weight is lost on your own using diet and exercise, or massive weight loss achieved with the help of bariatric surgery – gastric banding, sleeve, or bypass surgery. Resistant fatty deposits can remain, even after weight loss, since the way our fat is distributed is largely decided by hormones and genetics. Excess skin may be an issue, along with stretch marks.
…but post-weight loss, you start to focus on how clothes fit. The next phase is optimising the body you are left with once all that fat is gone. This is where body contouring procedures come into their own, and really cement the effort.
Loose skin can feel like a disappointing booby prize after losing weight, as it results in unflattering profiles and shapes that can only be covered with loose clothing. It can be quite uncomfortable too, while also being a bittersweet reminder of your epic journey.
Body contouring surgery is a useful adjunct to weight-loss, because it doesn’t make you healthier per se (like weight loss does), but it makes you feel good about your body. Feeling good about your body is useful when you consider what is going to help you continue to maintain a healthy weight. We all want to look good, so using your new shapely body as the dangling carrot is as good as anything.
Body contouring options will be different for each of you, with so many options available to get results. You may need a few stubborn fatty deposits removed, skin tightened or removed, or multiple procedures over a 1-2-year period. That is for you and your surgeon to decide – some body-contouring options are less extreme than others, but usually found to be worth every bruise and well-spent cent.
The main ways in which we recontour the body are liposuction in major and minor areas, breast adjustments, face and neck sculpting, and cellulite treatments.
When you come in for your consultation, your doctor will thoroughly examine you and discuss your wishes to get a solid picture of where you’re at and where you’d like to be.
Optimal results in body contouring are seen in those who are in the healthy or just above weight range, with a body mass index (BMI) of between 20 and 30. This range doesn’t mean anyone with a BMI over 30 won’t see dramatic results; they will. It will simply change the procedures we choose to do, with those with a higher BMI possibly requiring more or different procedures to achieve their goals.
Having a beautiful shape doesn’t necessarily mean not having a lot of fat – fat creates shapeliness, so having fat in the right places is what it’s all about. Fat is not the enemy.
There are several effective ways to remove fat, with injections, wave-based devices, and liposuction all proving new staples of the cosmetic dermatologist. We use heating, laser, radio-frequency and surgery to variously remove fatty deposits and tighten skin. We have a variety of fat removal options to suit all our patient’s needs.
Book an appointment with one of our highly qualified nurses and discuss your treatment options today.
Modern fat-removal techniques employ one of three strategies or a combination:
The methods of destroying fat cells are numerous and may be wave-based technologies, using temperature, or certain ingredients injected into the fat cells.
All of these options are viable, but the most important factor will be what procedure best suits your body with the least effort and maximum results.
There are a collection of new devices to remove fat, such as RF, fat freezing and injectables. While these devices provide non-invasive, surgery-free fat removal and body contouring options, they are newish to the market. That means, first, that practitioners using this equipment haven’t had as much experience as they may have in, say, liposuction, and it also means that the long-term studies haven’t had time to come in yet. These treatments, in the wrong hands, may result in uncertain results both now and in the future.
The risks of newer treatments don’t mean you shouldn’t get procedures done with these devices, but it means you need to have a good relationship with your surgeon so you understand where they stand on these treatments and what you can expect. Results are everything, so take your doctor’s advice, and get a second opinion where necessary.
There are several more advanced surgeries than just liposuction or a tummy tuck to remove excess skin. Body contouring for previously obese people can include lifts of large portions of the body in separate or joint operations.
After bariatric surgery to restrict food intake, weight loss is inevitable, but it leaves the skin loose all over the body. This loose skin isn’t just aesthetically problematic; it’s difficult to manage.
When there is fat inside the skin, it is plump and full, but the minute you remove that fat, the skin reveals its inelasticity and becomes cumbersome to squeeze into now-smaller clothes, sleeves, and jeans. The skin has to go somewhere. Exercise can be difficult, sitting or standing can be an issue, and life can be a little more uncomfortable.
The biggest complaint from post-weight loss patients is loose skin. Women may wish to have a breast lift or even implants to regain shape, while men often want their excess breast skin and tissue removed.
The upper body lift removes loose skin from the arms, breast and chest, while a lower body lift removes excess skin from the back, abdomen, buttocks and thighs.
We do not perform these body lifting operations at ENRICH Clinic, but we can recommend surgeons who do.
