Cellulite Treatments Melbourne

Cellulite is the dimpling of skin we commonly see on the thighs, buttocks and abdomen, and even on the arms. Cellulite is one of the most common cosmetic complaints but one of the hardest to effectively treat and keep at bay.

You can never entirely eliminate cellulite. You can only minimise, sometimes significantly, the appearance.

We have a program for targeting cellulite-prone areas that encompasses a combination treatment using anti-cellulite wave therapies and skin-tightening treatments.

Cellulite Treatment and Reduction

Firstly, there is hardening and contraction of the connective tissue network (called fibrous septae) supporting the fatty tissue. This causes bulging of fat between the rigid fibrous bands, but this also blocks blood vessels and lymphatic drainage, which further contributes to thick and swollen skin.

Secondly, there is protrusion of fat cells into the lower part of the skin called the dermis, which results in worsening of the dimpling effect.

Cellulite is difficult to treat with just diet and exercise, especially stubborn areas. Weight loss itself does not necessarily improve the appearance of cellulite, as even thin people can suffer from this complaint.

A combination cellulite treatment approach is best.

Cellulite Treatment Program – The Combination of Treatments

At ENRICH, we treat everyone individually. Our Cellulite  Treatment Program suggests a combination of treatments to help with the reduction of cellulite. Programs are always patient and area dependent.

The Secret combines micro-needling and radiofrequency energy, both well-regarded skin rejuvenation techniques, in one device. Treatments with the Secret improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while providing tightening and an increase in elasticity.

Our Ultraformer III  is a High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU),  a non-invasive skin tightening treatment using the power of deep ultrasonic waves to stimulate collagen and elastin. HIFU-treated skin starts to produce more collagen, offering tightening.

Why We Use Combination Programs

You may have a specific combination of skin laxity and fatty deposits, combined with tight fibrous bands, causing your cellulite to appear and become worse over time. It takes a trained eye to look at your body and make a thorough assessment to determine the best, most effective cellulite treatment options.

Why Cellulite Develops

For as much as we demonise it, cellulite is the innocent result of a normal body process. Why some of us get it more than others, and in certain areas, isn’t well understood, but it’s likely genes. Cellulite is not a disease.

The Three Grades of Cellulite Used in Cosmetic Medicine:

Grade 1 cellulite is where there is no sign of cellulite but if your doctor looks hard enough in the right conditions, they’ll be able to find it.

Grade 2 cellulite is where you can see the shadows cast by cellulite on pale skin, in lower temperatures when tissue shrinks, and when a doctor looks hard enough in the right conditions.

Grade 3 cellulite is where the skin has a visible look of cellulite to it, plus grade 1 and 2 signs.

Cellulite can appear even in very thin people, what used to be known as ‘skinny-fat’. A thin person who doesn’t exercise or eat well, but has a fast metabolism, may end up being skinny-fat. This result may mean cellulite is more visible.

Who Gets Cellulite, AndWwhy?

  • Any gender
  • With increasing age
  • Usually only past puberty (it’s unusual to see kids with cellulite)
  • Those seeing an increase in hormones (oestrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, prolactin)
  • Genetic predisposition (slow metabolism, differing fat distribution, circulatory disorders, ethnic background)
  • Diet high in carbohydrates, fat or salt (carbs and fat mean more fat storage, and salt results in increased fluid retention)
  • Smoking, sedentary lifestyle (poor circulation, poor fluid flow)
  • Those who stand or sit in one place for long periods of time (lack of fluid movement)
  • Tight clothes across the buttocks (may increase fluid retention)

Can I Cure Cellulite At Home?

You can’t ‘cure’ cellulite and even successful management means repeat cellulite treatments. We can only do so much for cellulite since it’s literally how we are built. There are certainly ways to improve the appearance of cellulite at home, and we recommend also including our treatments into your arsenal for best results.

If you come to us for treatments then don’t do any exercise, you’re not capitalising on the treatments.

Tricks To Improving Cellulite At Home Between Treatments

Regular weight training and exercise, especially around the areas you want the cellulite gone from, can help tighten the area and improve blood flow. Exercise helps move fluid through your body and generally makes all of your body and face look better as a result.

Staying hydrated is also useful to keep your skin and muscles supple and to replace fluids lost. Moisture matters for our bodies, and we look better when we are hydrated.

Eat healthy food. This cannot be understated. Eating a poor diet high in carbohydrates, artificial ingredients, fat, salt and sugar means an inefficient body. Inefficient bodies cling on to things they don’t need anymore, making you feel bloated and have less energy than you might otherwise.

Losing weight – while an unpopular answer – can also make a huge difference in the appearance of cellulite. If you’re carrying extra weight around, make a plan to lose it and go for it.

If you have concerns about cellulite, excess or stubborn fat, contact us for a personal consultation or aesthetic profiling session.
