Freckles can be addressed with treatments progressing from gentle topical creams to more aggressive lasers.
Gentle topical agents
These treatments have minimal downtime and including simple daily topical agents and regular peels. The following topical agents contain active ingredients that are scientifically proven to improve pigmentation treatment.
- Vitamin C
- Bleaching creams (with hydroquinone and kojic acid)
- Superficial glycolic acid peels
- Deeper Jessner, TCA and PCA peels (that may include the bleaching agents hydroquinone and resorcinol
These tend to work gradually over time with repeated use.
For a more rapid solution, laser is the key. In recent years, developments in pigmentation removal lasers such as the Fraxel 1927, as well as the Portrait, allow us to ‘wipe the slate clean’ in a single treatment.
Depending on the type and extent of pigmentation, which is assessed by one of our expert doctors, the correct device will be selected to optimise your outcome.
